What I Wore For The Summer To Fall Transition Challenge! Week 1

TRANSITION YOUR OUTFITS FROM SUMMER TO FALL

Fall officially begins today, but the weather isn’t cooperating for most of us. It’s finally starting to cool down for us this week, meaning the highs are only in the 80s, but the lows are in the 40s and 50s. The key is light layering and peeling off the layers as needed.

The Get Up and Get Stunning Fall Wardrobe Challenge was supposed to start last Monday, but with highs in the 90s the last thing I wanted to wear was full fall gear. So for the Society members I created 14 summer to fall transitional outfits combining items from the Summer and Fall Guides. (If you are a Society Member you can find the transitional outfit posts here and here. If you aren’t a Society member, you can learn more here!)

We have had a great time in the Facebook group showing our own twists on these outfits – and our styles! Today I’m sharing the first 7 outfits (with permission of course) from the group to inspire you as much as they’ve inspired me! We are currently in our second week of the challenge and still loving it! How are you transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall?

Day 1: It’s going to be 92 degrees here, so let’s start with this transitional outfit for day 1 of our Get Up and Get Stunning Challenge. Ankle pants are perfect for those transitional days.

I’ve worn this outfit MANY times, including in Venice, Italy, where I ended up looking just like a gondolier! So wear it anywhere but there…

“Transition Day 1. I don’t have lighter blue stripes, but since it was chilly this morning, I added the cardigan. It perfectly transitioned to a warm afternoon outfit since the top has short sleeves. This is my first Stunning Style day, and it fit perfectly with April’s post about self care. After a few hard months, I had been living in black yoga pants and T-shirts. Taking the time just to look in a mirror to put on mascara and lipstick along with a pulled-together outfit was serious self care for me.”

— Debi. T

Transitional Outfit Day 2: I love this classic look. You can swap out the shorts for ankle pants, depending on the weather. The striped bag is perfect to break up the color blocking with a dose of pattern.

I’ve also worn this outfit several times, including in the posts about how to wear a white tee and black shorts 16 different ways.

“#getupgetstunning I am in love with these loafers [from the Fall Guide]! Shopped my closet for the jeans and bag. Update: so I saw you guys throwing a white T-shirt under the sweater… I like it so much better!”

— Patty L.

Transitional Outfit Day 3: This outfit would work with any color of accessories.

This is another favorite outfit, and I’ve layered this base with all kinds of different jackets and accessories in many different colors. It looks different every time.

“I skipped the red cardigan because of the heat and went for my new red jeans. ”

Transitional Outfit #4: To make this warmer weather appropriate roll the sleeves above the elbows and cuff the pants!

Uh, I had a white pants mishap this day, so I switched to dark jeans. I brought in the pink with these metallic magenta sandals instead of the pink bag.

“Thank you April, for this fall transitional challenge. I have been struggling to figure out what I would be wearing in Florida, this winter. This challenge has gotten me thinking about what I already own in a new way! I am loving this old J.Crew cashmere gingham sweater vest worn in a new way! I am in love with my new booties the perfect transitional shoe! My husband, who rarely comments, said they look just like me! #GetUpGetStunning #EdgyClassic #FallTransitional”

Transitional Outfit Day 4: I find that if my torso is warm, my legs can take some exposure and not be cold. Maybe it’s a Southern thing, but I love shorts and long sleeve t-shirts!

I wore this to the school carnival with the family, and it was perfect for sitting in the grass, standing at the bottom of a bouncy slide, and cleaning sticky faces. I folded the full-length sleeves up to be 3/4 when it got really warm in the afternoon.

“Love this challenge; it makes for an easy life.”

— Kyle S.

Transitional outfit #6: Roll the sleeves if it’s a little too warm.

I wear this shirt year round, including in the summer! It’s one of my top 5 favorite shirts. I wear it ALL THE TIME.

“By taking these outfit pictures everyday, I’m discovering details that could be tweaked to make outfits more flattering for my body type. #getupgetstunning”

— Debra J.

Transitional Outfit #7: A navy dress is so versatile, I have included a version of it in the last 3 guides, and I get a ton of wear out of mine! They are easy to dress up or down, depending on footwear and accessories. You could easily substitute black as well.

So…I switched everything up. It’s too hot to wear longer sleeves so I’m wearing the navy dress from the Summer Guide. I’m loving my new sandals so much I want to wear them again and again before the weather turns, and I love the metallic purse with the metallic shoes. #edgyclassic

“So today, we had to dress our “professional best” at the office. I went with a version of Sunday’s OOTD. Fall Guide navy dress (I am in LOVE with it), edgy earrings, and a necklace. Nude patent leather pumps as it is still HOT and humid here. #getupandgetstunning #minimalclassic”

— Julie K.
